Anita Rachvelishvili's Amneris stood out elevated above the entire cast. The Georgian singer showed off a lush timbre, very rich in harmonics and she sketched thus a magnetic Amneris, around which the whole performance revolved. The daughter of the Pharaoh is in fact the most multifaceted character from the point of view of psychological character development, the only one who collides head-on both with the world of the passions of Radames and Aida and with the authority of the priests, - conflicts that reach their climax in the fourth act of which the mezzo-soprano made a real and her very own masterpiece.
